We can now also offer to both primary and secondary school children a grief education programme called "Seasons for Growth". This is a peer support programme, run over 8 weeks, it helps explore the effects of change, loss and grief. it recognises that change often hurts, can be confusing, frustrating or threatening. It also recognises that sometimes we need support in understanding and coping with the effects of change and loss.
Seasons for Growth provides a safe creative way to explore these issues. It is an opportunity for young people to learn that change, loss and grief are a normal and valuable part of life. The programme provides participants with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to understand and manage their individual experiences.
- Aims to suppoet young people to understand and manage the grief that is experienced because of the loss of a significant person.
- Assist in normalising the emotions associated with the loss.
- Encourage the expression of thoughts and emotions.
- Develop a peer support network.
- Help restore self-confidence and self-esteem.
